We have a license to run ShoreTel reports from any desktop through the browser. However, when we do this, the report fails to generate any data. The screen displays a small red X in the top right side of the page, looks something like an active X error, but it is not. If we go to the server, the reports run just fine!

This problem could be the result of an incorrect setting on your PC or on the HQ
server. The first step is checking your PC. Step 1) Verify in Director that your user has the correct Administrative Roll settings for Remote Generation Management. If you are a "System Administrator" that is all you need. Step 2) Verify that the ActiveX Controls are set correctly on your PC. a) Open Up IE and Select Tools then Internet Options b) Select the Security Tab c) Select Custom d) Set the following Active X Controls and Plug-Ins i) Automatic prompting for ActiveX controls DISABLE ii) Binary and script behaviors DISABLE iii) Download signed ActiveX controls PROMPT iv) Download unsigned ActiveX controls DISABLE v) Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe DISABLE vi) Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins ENABLE vii) Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting ENABLE e) Select OK to save and close. Step 3) Verify that ActiveX has not been blocked on your PC by checking if the Crystal ActiveX program has been installed: a) Open Up IE and Select Tools then Internet Options b) In the category “Browsing History” click on “Settings” c) Click “Cancel” d) Click “View objects” e) Look to see if “crystalreportviewers11” is missing. If so then move to the HQ server After checking your PC and finding no problems then the most likely cause is the IIS settings on the Main Server are missing. You could run a repair with the ShoreTel installer, but that requires a reboot and taking the server out of service for a least 20 minutes. The following steps will walk you through the workaround to fixing this issue: Step 1) On the HQ server open: IIS Manager > local computer > Web Site > Default Web Site Step 2) Look to see if “crystalreportviewers11” is missing. If so follow these steps to install it: Step 3) Right click on “Default Web Sites” and select “Virtual Directory…” Step 4) Click Next Step 5) Enter “crystalreportviewers11” for the Alias: Step 6) Click “Browse…” button Step 7) Locate and Select: Program Files > Common Files > Business Objects > 3.0 > crystalreportviewers11 Step 8) Click the OK button Step 9) Click the Next button Step 10) Click the Next button Step 11) Click the Finish button At this stage you will see the icon of a world and not a gear. Step 12) Right click on “crystalreportviewers11” and select Properties Step 13) Click on the Create button Step 14) Select “Scripts only” Step 15) Click on the OK button Run the Remote Report from your PC. When the report is attempted, Active-X will install a tool on your PC. To verify that the download succeeded: Step 1) Open a Browser and under Tools select “Internet Options” Step 2) In the category “Browsing History” click on “Settings” Step 3) Click “Cancel” Step 4) Click “View objects” Step 5) “crystalreportviewers11” should now be listed. |
