I have two DVM servers at two international locations that once in a while go down.
What part of the Shoretel does the DVM server have in the network? Will recording calls, monitoring calls go down when the DVM server goes down? What can be done to reconfigure Shoreware Director when the DVM server goes down so all my agents have the recording and monitoring ability? |

The best way to think of the DVM is that it is a READ ONLY copy of the database. As you might suspect there can only be one copy of a database. The master R/W copy of the ShoreTel database runs on the HQ server. The DVM provides for local accumulation of VM and AA, keeping these from streaming needlessly across the WAN. However, if the DVM becomes disconnected from the HQ server, the net effect is that you can not change anything that would require a change to the database. For example, call managers could not change from STANDARD to OUT of OFFICE. This might be the root cause of your issue.

Thank you for your quick reply!!! I am still wondering if, when the DVM goes down, will that have any effect on the local users having recording options and voice mail options not work? Does the system have a way of getting back to the main server and still perform these functions?
I have had my satellite location tell me that these functions were not working due to the DVM going down, something I am doubting. |
