We need to have our phone system answer on the first ring. On analog lines, the Caller ID information is communicated during the silent ring duration of the total ring cycle. ShoreTel ( I guess any analog phone line on any phone system) would need to turn off CID or otherwise ignore that CID. How do we tell ShoreTel to ignore CID and pass ring cycle on the first ring?

Some of us do not know what the support entry is all about? Is there a list of ShoreTel dial plan modification strings and someway to know how they are used. For example if I have several trunk groups all with the same area code and all on the same "dial 9" access code, is there a way to make sure callers use one trunk group over another?

This can get very complicated and things need to be in a certain order depending on your needs. This should not be done by just anyone.
When at the ShoreWare Director Login page, hold down the “shift” and “control” buttons and click on the “user”. The special “support entry” indication will display and then you just login as normal. This will expose some extra controls on the trunk group edit page. Analog trunks by default cost (with ;1A). Depending on your prortiy on outbound calls on which trunk depends on which trunk group your going to add weight. Addning weight tells the ShoreTel sytem that there is more cost in using that trunk. I would suggest just adding one ato the number and slowly go up. |

You must call for Verizon to put this feature on your phone automatically. Additionally, some numbers you call require your phone number to show up. In that case, dial *82-1-248-555-1212 and that will transmit your telephone number. You can have the *82 programmed in front of the telephone number for all your contacts.

From the options of shoretel you could select to disable your caller identification. But why do you need to disable the CID? There could be another solution to your problem without disabling CID or without modifying the working of the CID. Hire some professional to provide this service for you and I think there could be a possible solution to this problem. Like what you can do is try adding a microcontroller which is programmed to pass the ring cycle as soon as the first ring goes on.
