our company is think of going with the ShoreTel phone system. the problem is we have one area that is a distance away from the main switches roughly 390ft. We have ran a cable out there and the computers work just fine. I was wondering if anyone has gone over the recommended cable length (328ft.) and if it has worked out for them with the VoIP?

Ethernet has a maximum conductor running resistance of 100 meters which is approximately 300 feet. There are a number of options here: First go ahead and put a laptop on it and see if you have any connection problems; use a LRE (Long Reach Ethernet) capable ethernet switch which can extend to 5000 feet; go with a wireless Ethernet bridge or just put an ethernet extender in the cable. Anyone of these solutions will get you where you need to be!
