Shortel SIP Extension to Asterisk Server

Do you know how to set up a Shoretel to Asterisk connection. Not a trunk. I want to have a Shortel extension dial and extension on my Asterisk server. I know how to set up SIP trunks from Shortel to Asterisk but not have an extension mapped to my Asterisk box. The main reason I want to do this is to have all inbound faxes from Shortel goto the Asterisk box. Also I just want to be able to dial a number on the Shortel system and use the asterisk box as a echotest, DMTF test, etc… Any config snippits on the asterisk side would be great!

If you don't want to use a SIP trunk, you will have to put an FXO card in the Trixbox. My guess is you would come off the ShoreTel as an Extension. This Extension would then ring into the Trixbox as an incoming CO call on the FXO port. You could then route it accordingly. I am guessing that you just want to get the Fax into email in the HUD or something like that?
